Hey there! I’m Johanne Kübler, a researcher at the Sustainable Computing Lab, based at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. I am currently a visiting PostDoc at the AI Futures Lab at TU Delft.

I am also a consultant for Enabling Digital Rights and Governance, a research and consultancy initiative of academics, based across Europe, working on digital technologies, human rights and good governance.

My research focuses on the interplay between digital technologies and politics and their impact on society at large. Recent projects include an evaluation of content governance models that could serve as alternatives to the practice of deletion of content common on large international online platforms, and an analysis of policies aimed at reducing the spread of mis- and disinformation and proposed a new regulatory framework for data-driven practices in social media platforms.

My previous research looked at how digital technologies and platforms remove barriers to the political participation of diasporas in their authoritarian home countries. I hold a PhD from the European University Institute’s Department of Political and Social Sciences. In addition, I worked as a Research Associate at the Borderlands project at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies under the direction of Professor Raffaella A. Del Sarto.
